Professional Life in Illinois 1830-1861

During Lincoln’s professional years in Illinois he was able to build himself up as a successful lawyer and would eventually become a member of the US House. He would secure his nomination for president in 1860 and win the election later that year. This design of the 2009 cent depicts this transformation to power.

Birth and Early Childhood in Kentucky 1809-1816

Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky in 1809. The first cent in the series will be dedicated to Lincoln’s Birthplace and his early childhood in Kentucky. The reverse of the coin will depict this with a log cabin and the date 1809.

2009 Proof Set has all four Cents

The 2009 US Proof set was released by the mint on June 1st and it contains an example of each of the new cents from the San Francisco mint. The coins are proofs and they are made of 95% copper. The new proof sets are in very high demand and are expected to sell out at the mint before the end of the summer. As an investment I would suggest you get your hands on a proof set or two.

Coin collectors have been know to spend big bucks on rare pennies. The 2009 does offer comparative rarity when compared to all other mintages of lincoln cents but the high cost is not there yet. Ask your bank teller for a roll today. Five years from now you will thank me.
