Professional Life in Illinois 1830-1861

During Lincoln’s professional years in Illinois he was able to build himself up as a successful lawyer and would eventually become a member of the US House. He would secure his nomination for president in 1860 and win the election later that year. This design of the 2009 cent depicts this transformation to power.

Formative Years in Indiana 1816-1830

In 1816 Lincoln moved with his family to Indiana. While in Indiana Lincoln taught himself to read while learning the value of honest work. Birth and Early Childhood in Kentucky 1809-1816

Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky in 1809. The first cent in the series will be dedicated to Lincoln’s Birthplace and his early childhood in Kentucky. The reverse of the coin will depict this with a log cabin and the date 1809.
